Brazil sugar shipments scheduled at 2.22 million tons
Brazil scheduled 2.22 million tons of sugar for shipment during the week ending September 9, a 10.3% decrease from the 2.48 million tons projected the previous week. Despite the high volume of 57 ships in the line-up, the sector is facing a decline in prices received on the international market.
The Port of Santos remains the primary hub, handling 1.66 million tons, which represents 75% of the total scheduled volume. The Port of Paranaguá follows with 560,800 tons. Most of the cargo consists of VHP sugar, totaling 1.92 million tons, intended for foreign refineries.
Data from the Secretariat of Foreign Trade indicates that in the first four business days of September, Brazil exported 564,000 tons of sugar and molasses. This represents a daily average of 141,000 tons, a 4.4% reduction compared to the same period in the previous year. Accumulated revenue for this period reached approximately R$ 1.06 billion.
