Cármen Lúcia defends Brazilian democracy and voting system at Paraty literary festival

Supreme Court Justice Cármen Lúcia addressed a crowd at the 24th Festa Literária Internacional de Paraty while launching her book "Pela mão do povo — Democracia e voto no Brasil." She emphasized that democracy resides in the hands of the people, not in government palaces, and urged citizens to engage daily in democratic actions. During the same event she defended the integrity of Brazil’s electronic voting machines, calling them “invulnerable” and rejecting recent criticisms from political figures, including Flávio Bolsonaro, who alleged irregularities. Lúcia warned that attacks on the voting system echo past unfounded claims and stressed that only voters themselves know how they voted.
