Brazil Supreme Court Minister Moraes orders probes into Bolsonaro film financing and gun case

On 22 June, Supreme Court minister Alexandre de Moraes forwarded to the court’s president, Edson Fachin, a request to decide which minister will lead the investigation linking the financing of the “Dark Horse” film with alleged coercion of STF members by Eduardo Bolsonaro and a R$134 million loan from banker Daniel Vorcaro to Flávio Bolsonaro. The request was filed by deputy Lindbergh Farias, who said the three elements were connected.

Moraes also mandated the Prosecutor General’s Office to issue an opinion within 48 hours on whether Jair Bolsonaro’s possession of a firearm at his residence constitutes a serious breach that could justify ending his house arrest, which is due to expire on Thursday. Bolsonaro said the gun was kept for security reasons and was defective.
