Brazil Survey Shows Crime and Violence Remain Top Public Concern

An Ipsos "What Worries the World" poll conducted in June found that 47% of Brazilians identify crime and violence as the biggest problem facing the country, a share that has held steady since May. About 40.1% of respondents aged 16 or older said they had experienced some form of crime or violence in the past year, reinforcing the perception of insecurity.

Concern over corruption rose to 39% of respondents, a two‑point increase from the previous month, while 42% now believe Brazil is moving in the right direction, up three points month‑on‑month and five points year‑on‑year. Compared with the global average, Brazilians are more optimistic about their nation’s trajectory (38% of people worldwide think their country is on the right track). The survey also noted that in the United States, inflation remains the top concern.

Overall, the poll highlights sustained worries about public safety and growing attention to corruption, alongside a modest rise in confidence about the country's direction.
