Brazil surveys workers on 6x1 schedule while paternity leave law expands

A survey of more than 18,000 Brazilian workers by the platform meutudo found that 51 % of those on a 6‑day‑on‑1‑day‑off (6x1) schedule cite lack of rest as the main drawback, while 63 % say maintaining current pay is their top concern if work hours change. Overall, 42 % still rank salary as the most important factor in employment decisions, and 76 % say they know at least basic labor rights.

In parallel, Brazil's new paternity‑leave legislation, signed on 31 March 2026, will gradually increase mandatory paid leave from the current five days to ten days in 2027, fifteen days in 2028 and ultimately twenty days from 2029 onward. The law aims to promote greater involvement of fathers in childcare and to balance work‑family responsibilities.

Both findings highlight growing demand among Brazilian workers for better work‑life balance without sacrificing financial security.
