Brazil targets mining growth through technology and infrastructure
During the opening of Exposibram 2026, Pedro Henrique Giocondo Guerra, an advisor to the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC), outlined strategies to strengthen Brazil's mining sector. The government's approach focuses on improving infrastructure, regulation, technology, and financing alternatives.
Guerra highlighted the ongoing strengthening of the National Mining Agency (ANM) through new staff hires and a strategic plan to incorporate technology. He noted that artificial intelligence will be utilized to increase the speed of licensing processes. Additionally, the agency aims to improve dam safety and tailings management through a circular economy perspective.
