Brazil Tax Reform Spurs Corporate Adjustments and Tourism Forum
The Brazilian tax reform requires companies in the regular tax regime to update electronic invoicing systems in August to meet the new IBS and CBS tax fields, revise product registrations and conduct testing to avoid operational failures. Firms using Simples Nacional are not yet obliged to adopt the new fields but are advised to monitor forthcoming regulations.
The reform has also revived interest in holding companies as businesses and families seek asset‑protection and tax‑efficiency strategies amid changes to dividend taxation, higher ITCMD rates and the application of IBS and CBS to certain transactions, especially in real estate. Tax specialist Rafael Pandolfo cautions that holdings are not a one‑size‑fit solution and notes a pending Supreme Court decision on the incidence of ITBI for property transfers to companies.
On 4 August, a regional tourism meeting in Teresópolis will address the reform’s impact on hotels, bars and restaurants, alongside topics such as AI‑driven kitchen management, food safety and destination development. Speakers include Olympic medalist Flávio Canto, who will discuss leadership and legacy, and chef Rô Gouvêa, who will present on using artificial intelligence to streamline gastronomy operations.
