Brazil technology sector faces 30% talent deficit

A study conducted by Inteli in partnership with WKS reveals a significant labor shortage in the Brazilian technology sector. Between 2019 and 2024, demand for tech professionals reached 665,000, while the supply of new workers was approximately 464,000, resulting in a 30.2% deficit.

While artificial intelligence is a major area of interest for 79% of professionals, current hiring remains concentrated in core operational roles. Software development accounts for 35.7% of vacancies, followed by infrastructure and support at 23.2%, and data and AI at 17.7%.

Top salaries are found in leadership and specialized technical positions. The highest reported monthly compensation is for Chief Technology Officers, reaching up to R$ 53,600. Other high-paying roles include Chief Security Officers, Chief Information Officers, and Data Managers. The demand for these professionals spans various industries, including banking, retail, healthcare, and agribusiness, with opportunities heavily concentrated in the Southeast region, particularly in São Paulo.
