Brazil teen Ilana suffers 80% burns in Rio Branco explosion, family launches aid campaign

Sixteen‑year‑old Ilana was severely burned after an explosion caused by pouring about five litres of alcohol onto a fire during a party in Rio Branco, Acre, on 27 June. The blast caused second‑ and third‑degree burns on roughly 80 % of her body, leading to intubation at the scene, admission to the city’s intensive‑care unit and the amputation of part of her left leg. The family said Ilana remains in critical condition and may require further surgeries.

To cover the high cost of her continued treatment, including out‑of‑home care in another city, the family has started a donation campaign.
