Confaz updates fuel reference prices for ICMS tax calculation

The National Council of Finance Policy (Confaz) has published updated reference values for the Weighted Average Consumer Price (PMPF) for various fuels, effective October 1. These values are used by Brazilian states and the Federal District to calculate the ICMS (Tax on Circulation of Goods and Services).

The update covers several products, including ethanol, aviation kerosene, vehicle natural gas (GNV), industrial natural gas, and fuel oil. Authorities emphasized that the PMPF is a fiscal reference for tax calculation and does not necessarily reflect the actual prices charged at gas stations, which are subject to market conditions and distribution costs.

Specific regional reference values include R$ 3.77 per liter for ethanol in São Paulo, R$ 4.46 in the Federal District, and R$ 4.99 in Maranhão. For aviation kerosene, Minas Gerais set a reference of R$ 8.02 per liter, while Tocantins and Roraima reported higher values at R$ 9.82 and R$ 8.22, respectively.
