Brazil defeats Egypt 2-1 in final pre‑World Cup friendly
Brazil beat Egypt 2–1 in the final warm‑up match before the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The friendly was played at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland, United States, before a crowd of more than 64,000. Bruno Guimarães opened the scoring early, while Egypt equalised through Mostafa “Ziko” Abdelraouf. Endrick, coming off the bench, provided the winner with a low‑cross from Raphinha.
Coach Carlo Ancelotti rotated the squad, restoring Marquinhos to the back line, testing Igor Thiago and Lucas Paquetá, and substituting several starters from the previous Panama win. Neymar remained out with a calf injury, and right‑back Wesley left the field after a groin strain, replaced by Danilo. Brazil will debut in the World Cup on 13 June against Morocco at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, followed by matches versus Haiti and Scotland.
The victory, witnessed by a large American audience, gave Ancelotti confidence in the team’s defensive organization and the emerging role of 19‑year‑old striker Endrick ahead of the tournament.
