Brazil asset tokenization market reaches R$ 10 billion

The Brazilian asset tokenization market has seen significant growth, with reports indicating that tokenized values reached R$ 10 billion by August 2026, a tenfold increase from the previous year. Private credit dominates this sector, accounting for 88% of the tokenized volume. While blockchain technology offers potential for increased liquidity and operational efficiency, significant barriers remain, including regulatory uncertainty, market acceptance, and liquidity issues.

In the broader fintech landscape, Brazilian startups raised R$ 3 billion through 54 rounds between January and August 2026, showing resilience despite high interest rates. Most of this capital is directed toward early-stage companies. Additionally, Itaú Unibanco has expanded its technological capabilities by investing in Simile, an American AI startup that simulates human behavior to assist in market research and decision-making processes.

Nexa has also introduced Nexa Genesis, a platform designed to provide hyper-personalized investment products in real-time using AI and blockchain, aiming to democratize access to premium investment structures with lower minimum applications.
