Brazil traffic rules prohibit parking within five meters of corners
Under the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB), parking a vehicle less than five meters from a street corner is prohibited. This regulation applies even in the absence of specific signage or painted curbs. The five-meter distance must be measured from the edge of the intersection of the transversal road.
Violating this rule can result in a fine of R$ 130.16 and the addition of four points to the driver's license (CNH). Drivers are advised that visual assessments of whether a vehicle can pass through a space do not override the legal distance requirements.
