Athletico Paranaense, Marcílio Dias and Retrô unveil major stadium construction projects

Athletico Paranaense disclosed the start of foundation work for a retractable balcony at Arena da Baixada in Curitiba. Twenty‑four 16‑metre piles will support a motorised, hydraulically operated metal stand designed to allow concerts and other events without interrupting the football calendar. The project is carried out with live‑entertainment firm 30e under a partnership that does not require the club to allocate its own funds.

In Itajaí, the Marcílio Dias football club presented the architectural plan for a new Dr. Hercílio Luz stadium on the site of the current Gigantão das Avenidas. The first phase will provide 12,800 seated places on a 17,000‑square‑metre footprint, with an eventual expansion to about 18,000 seats. The design includes a surrounding boulevard with shops, bars and restaurants, plus sustainable systems for energy, water and materials. The municipality will launch the bidding process, aiming to begin construction within roughly 18 months.

Brazilian club Retrô announced a separate stadium project in Camaragibe, near Recife. The arena will seat over 10,000 spectators and be built adjacent to the Camará Shopping centre. Features will include a glass‑skin façade, VIP boxes, a restaurant with stadium views, a 600‑square‑metre gym, a museum of the club’s history and modern access‑control zones. The city of Camaragibe has provided the land and will cooperate on the development.
