Brazil updates CNH driver's license regulations and delivery processes

Updates to the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB) are introducing significant changes to the process of obtaining a National Driver's License (CNH). Key reforms aim to modernize driver training, reduce bureaucracy, and lower costs through digitalization and more flexible training requirements.

One major change is the shift regarding driving simulators for Category B (cars); the use of simulators is now optional rather than mandatory, allowing candidates to use them for reinforcement if desired without it being a requirement for the practical exam.

Regarding the delivery of the physical CNH, while the State Traffic Department (Detran) is responsible for issuing the document, the tracking of its delivery is the responsibility of the Correios or other contracted logistics companies. Tracking codes are typically sent to the address provided during the application process via mail or email.
