Brazil vaccination rates for pregnant women fall below targets
Vaccination rates among pregnant women in Brazil are falling significantly below the 90% target set by health authorities. According to data from the Ministry of Health, coverage for the COVID-19 vaccine among pregnant women stood at only 55% in 2025. While influenza vaccination rates showed a slight improvement in preliminary data to 76%, they also remain below the national goal.
This trend of vaccine hesitancy poses serious health risks. Ministry of Health data indicates that at least 286 pregnant women or postpartum women developed severe acute respiratory syndrome (SRAG) following infections, highlighting the consequences of insufficient immunization.
