Brazil vehicle financing rises 10.9% in first half of 2026
Vehicle financing in Brazil grew 10.9% in the first half of 2026, reaching 3.78 million units – the strongest six‑month tally since 2008 when 4.23 million units were financed. Used vehicles accounted for 2.38 million of those units, while new‑vehicle financing totaled 1.39 million.
All regions posted growth. The Centre‑West led with a 13.1% increase, followed by the Northeast (12.6%), South (11.2%), Southeast (10.6%) and North (4.4%). Light commercial vehicles remain the largest segment. In June 2026, 434 000 vehicles were financed, an 11.9% rise over June 2025. Used‑car financing in June hit 323 000 units (+12% YoY) while new light‑vehicle financing fell to 112 000 units (‑3.3%). The average contract term for automobiles and light‑commercial vehicles rose to 47.2 months from 46.3 months a year earlier. Motorcycles and heavy vehicles also saw modest increases.
