Brazil Vice President Alckmin says Wagner case strengthens Lula government

Vice President Geraldo Alckmin said the investigation involving Senator Jaques Wagner "engrandece" President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s administration. Wagner stepped down from the Senate government leadership after being linked to the Federal Police’s Operation Compliance Zero, which probes alleged fraud tied to Banco Master. Alckmin highlighted the case as evidence of the Federal Police’s autonomy and the government’s transparency, stating that the institutions are operating independently of political protection.

The senator has denied wrongdoing, claiming the questioned assets stem from legitimate sources, while the Federal Police seized cash and foreign currency during searches. Alckmin also discussed upcoming electoral strategies in São Paulo, praising the coalition tickets of Fernando Haddad and Márcio França.
