He rejected claims that the squad lacked grit or spirit, stating that while the team is not yet perfect, they have worked to become more consistent and competitive after recent friendly matches against teams like Japan, Germany, Cuba, and Italy.

In the women's division, coach Zé Roberto Guimarães responded to critiques regarding the concentration of decisive plays among a few specific players. He argued that selecting specific attackers for high-pressure moments is a standard practice in elite volleyball. Additionally, he explained that the team will not be testing a lineup featuring all three starting outside hitters simultaneously this season due to the tactical adjustments and training time required for such a formation.
