Brazil weather alerts and road safety guidance issued amid heavy rains
Authorities in Brazil are issuing guidance as frequent rain and unstable weather patterns increase risks for residents and drivers. In Paraná, meteorological agencies such as Inmet, Simepar, and the Civil Defense use a color-coded alert system to communicate severity levels. An 'amarelo' (yellow) alert indicates potential danger, 'laranja' (orange) represents danger, and 'vermelho' (red) signifies great danger.
In São Paulo, ARTESP is advising motorists to take specific precautions on highways due to reduced visibility and slippery roads. Key recommendations include checking tire tread depth, ensuring brakes and windshield wipers are functional, and reducing speed during rainfall. Drivers are also urged to keep low-beam headlights on and avoid driving through flooded areas where obstacles may be hidden.
