Brazil secures multiple medals at Paralympic World Championships
Brazil achieved significant success in international para-sports, securing multiple medals at the Paralympic Judo World Championships in Tbilisi, Georgia, and the Paralympic Triathlon World Championships in Pontevedra, Spain.
In Tbilisi, the Brazilian judo team earned bronze medals in both the men’s and women’s team competitions. The women’s team, including Rebeca Silva, Meg Emmerich, Larissa Silva, and Brenda Freitas, defeated Kazakhstan 4-1. The men’s team, featuring Deyverson de Souza, Arthur Silva, Denis Rosa, Felipe Amorim, and Thiego Marques, secured bronze after a tie-breaking victory against France. Brazil concluded the judo tournament in second place in the overall medal standings with 12 total medals: three gold, five silver, and four bronze.
In the triathlon championships in Spain, the Brazilian relay team—composed of Jéssica Ferreira, Ruiter Silva, and Erica Rodrigues—won the bronze medal. This followed Erica Rodrigues’ silver medal win earlier in the week.
In elite triathlon, Portuguese athlete Vasco Vilaça secured his first world title at the World Triathlon Championship Series (WTCS) 2026 Grand Final in Pontevedra. Although he finished second in the specific race to a photo finish, his season-long performance earned him the overall world championship title.
