Brazil wins eight medals at World Canoeing Championships
Brazil achieved significant success at the World Canoeing Championships, securing a total of eight medals. The delegation finished seventh in the overall medal standings with 1 gold, 5 silver, and 2 bronze medals.
In the sprint canoeing events, Jacky Godmann and Gabriel Nascimento earned silver in the C2 500m with a time of 1:39.81, finishing just 0.58 seconds behind independent athletes Zakhar Petrov and Ivan Shtyl. This marked the first senior world podium for the duo and the first Brazilian medal in a sprint championship without Isaquias Queiroz, who previously secured gold in the C1 500m.
In paracanoeing, Brazil earned six medals. Fernando Rufino took silver in the KL2M200m, narrowly missing gold by three hundredths of a second. In the KL3M200m event, Brazil achieved a double podium with Gabriel Porto winning silver and Miqueias Rodrigues winning bronze.
