Brazil wins four medals at Parapan-Pacific swimming debut

Brazil opened the Parapan-Pacific swimming competition in Walnut, United States, with four medals: two golds and two silvers. The 16-member Brazilian team consists of athletes who were medalists at the 2025 World Championships in Singapore.

Lídia Cruz set a new Americas record in the 150m medley S4 with a time of 2min56s31, earning gold. Her compatriot Patrícia Pereira took silver in the same event. Gabriel Bandeira secured gold in the 200m freestyle (classes S2-S5 and S14) with a time of 1min53s21, while Samuel Oliveira earned silver in the 50m butterfly (classes S5-S7) with a time of 33s68.

The tournament, established by the United States, Canada, Australia, and Japan, provides high-performance competition for non-European nations during years without World Championships or Paralympic Games. The competition continues through Sunday.
