Brazil wins three bronze medals at Lausanne Grand Slam judo

Brazilian judokas secured three bronze medals during the opening day of the Grand Slam in Lausanne, Switzerland. The athletes—Clarice Ribeiro (-48kg), Michel Augusto (-60kg), and Rafaela Rodrigues (-52kg)—each earned 500 points toward the world ranking for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.

Clarice Ribeiro, 18, achieved her first Grand Slam medal by defeating Portugal's Catarina Costa. Her path to the podium included victories over Yua Mori, Mary Dee Vargas, and Wenna Zhuang, before a semifinal loss to Russia's Marina Vorobeva.

Michel Augusto, 21, secured his bronze in the 60kg category after a golden score victory over Ruslan Poltorastskii. His tournament included a win over Olympic vice-champion Luka Mkheidze in the repechage.

Rafaela Rodrigues also reached the podium in the -52kg category following a seven-minute golden score battle.
