Brazil women's volleyball team falls 3-0 to USA in VNL, ends phase in third place

The Brazil women's national volleyball team lost to the United States 3‑0 in the final match of the 2026 Volleyball Nations League (VNL) classification round in Osaka, with set scores of 26‑24, 25‑22 and 25‑16. The defeat followed an earlier 3‑0 loss to Thailand, leaving Brazil in third place on the overall table with nine wins and three losses. Outside hitter Ana Cristina was Brazil’s top scorer with 17‑18 points, while the team struggled with unforced errors and a disrupted block after central Julia Kudiess tore her anterior cruciate ligament and was ruled out for the rest of the tournament. Despite the setbacks, Brazil secured a quarter‑final berth and will meet Japan in Macau on 22 July. The team's earlier victories over the Netherlands, Dominican Republic, Bulgaria, Italy, France, Belgium, China, Germany, Japan, Poland and others were highlighted by dominant set wins, but the consecutive defeats to Thailand and the United States marked a strategic setback in the competition.
