Brazil women's volleyball team prepares for South American Championship as Vila Nova targets Superliga C promotion
Coach José Roberto Guimarães said the Brazil women's national volleyball team will extend its training period ahead of the South American Championship in Rio de Janeiro's Maracanãzinho arena (Sept. 8‑13). The tournament offers a direct Olympic berth for Los Angeles 2028, and Guimarães stressed longer team cohesion to improve technical level and reduce injury risk.
In the club circuit, Vila Nova, led by coach Neilon Carlos, entered the Superliga C with several new signings, including international‑experienced setter Melissa Matias and young opposite Sophia Tomaz Figueira. The team aims to win the Central‑West regional stage to secure a place in the national phase and ultimately earn promotion to Superliga B for the 2026‑27 season.
