Brazil women's volleyball team takes VNL silver after Turkey final loss

Brazil's women’s national volleyball team finished as runners‑up at the 2024 FIVB Volleyball Nations League, losing the final 3‑1 to Turkey in Macau, China. The result marked the team’s fifth silver medal in the competition’s history, matching previous second‑place finishes in 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2025.

Coach José Roberto Guimarães praised the overall campaign but reiterated the “incessant” quest for a gold medal. He highlighted victories over Italy and Japan en route to the final and noted the challenge of limited preparation time due to a reduced match calendar.

Outside hitter Julia Bergmann reflected on the need for greater mental and physical preparation and described the silver as a learning opportunity ahead of the upcoming South American Championship, which serves as a qualifier for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. The squad dealt with several injuries during the tournament, including the absence of captain Gabi and injuries to players Tainara, middle blocker Julia Kudiess, and libero Nyeme.

The team will now focus on recovery and preparation for the continental event, aiming to secure Olympic qualification.
