Brazilian 2026 Senate and State Deputy Candidates Announced

Former state deputy Rubens Pereira announced his support for Hilton Gonçalo, who has been officially nominated as a Senate candidate for Maranhão in the 2026 elections. Pereira said he spent nine months observing the major party slates before deciding to back Gonçalo, adding his endorsement alongside that of André Fufuca.

Former Santarém mayor Nélio Aguiar had his candidacy for state deputy in Pará formally confirmed by the União Brasil and Progressistas federation during a convention in Belém. Aguiar, a physician and longtime local politician, highlighted his track record of infrastructure projects and seeks to represent the western Pará region in the state legislature.
