Brazilian actors clash over feminicide statistics

Brazilian actors José de Abreu, Eduardo Moscovis, and Juliano Cazarré are involved in a public dispute regarding statistics on gender-based violence. The controversy began after Cazarré stated in a GloboNews debate that the number of men killed exceeds the number of feminicide victims.

Eduardo Moscovis criticized this comparison, calling it “absurd” and questioning the validity of such a statement from a public figure. In response, José de Abreu defended Moscovis and criticized Cazarré, arguing that comparing general male mortality—including accidents, police actions, and robberies—to feminicide is statistically incorrect and misleading.

Cazarré responded via social media, defending his position and expressing frustration over the backlash. He suggested that critics should direct their concerns toward the Ministry of Justice rather than targeting him personally.
