Brazilian agribusiness groups propose debt relief and climate finance measures
Brazilian agricultural organizations are presenting strategic proposals to address financial instability and climate adaptation. Aprosoja Brasil has submitted a letter to presidential candidates urging structural measures to combat rising rural indebtedness. Despite record soybean production, rural credit delinquency reached 9.7% in August 2026, with R$ 205 billion in problematic credit. The entity advocates for multi-year budget predictability for rural insurance subsidies and the creation of a credit risk guarantee fund to protect producers from climate events and market volatility.
Simultaneously, the Confederação da Agricultura e Pecuária do Brasil (CNA) has outlined its priorities for the COP 31 climate conference. The CNA is calling for expanded access to climate financing, improved adaptation strategies for extreme weather, and economic recognition for environmental conservation on private properties. The proposals emphasize the need for practical implementation through technology, training, and credit lines that support sustainable practices, such as pasture recovery and the mitigation of environmental impacts.
