Agricultural producers and the Parliamentary Agriculture Front (FPA) are discussing measures to improve financing, expand rural insurance, and increase investment predictability. Key challenges include reorganizing existing debts, managing costs for new planting seasons, and mitigating climate-related losses.

Between July and September, corporate agriculture contracted R$ 107.1 billion, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa). Of this total, R$ 50.3 billion (46.9%) was obtained through Rural Product Notes (CPRs), while conventional financing accounted for R$ 36.4 billion.

Concerns have also been raised regarding the increasing use of judicial recovery processes among producers. Gilson Bittencourt, Vice President of Agribusiness and Family Farming at Banco do Brasil, noted a ‘banalization’ of these legal requests, warning that some cases have resulted in bankruptcy and higher debt loads than if negotiated directly with creditors. Since the second quarter of last year, 875 judicial recovery processes from Banco do Brasil clients have totaled R$ 7.66 billion.
