Brazilian Air Force intercepts irregular aircraft in Roraima and Mato Grosso

The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) has conducted two separate operations to intercept unauthorized aircraft entering Brazilian airspace from neighboring countries.

In Roraima, military authorities intercepted a helicopter arriving from Venezuela on October 22, 2026. The aircraft was flying at a low altitude without a flight plan or identification. Following an interception by an A-29 Super Tucano, the pilot ignored defense orders and made a forced landing approximately 100 kilometers from Boa Vista. The helicopter was later found abandoned, and authorities from the National Public Security Force proceeded to destroy the aircraft on-site.

In Mato Grosso, a white Cessna arriving from Bolivia was intercepted on October 23, 2026. The operation involved an A-29 Super Tucano and an E-99 radar aircraft. Upon realizing it was being pursued, the pilot performed a forced landing near Juara and set the aircraft on fire before fleeing the scene. The Federal Police and technical forensics teams are investigating the incident to determine the pilot's identity and whether illicit cargo, such as narcotics, was involved.
