Brazilian-American Student Júlia Lima Killed in Fort Myers Shooting

Júlia Lima, a 21‑year‑old Brazilian‑American who had lived part of her youth in Bahia, was shot dead in Fort Myers, Florida. Police say the suspect, 27‑year‑old Willian Rosa do Amaral from Minas Gerais, Brazil, was her former boyfriend. He turned himself in to authorities on the day of the killing and was arrested on a charge of second‑degree murder.

The Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Consulate‑General in Miami, is providing consular assistance to Júlia’s family, who travel frequently between the United States and Brazil. The investigation is being handled by the Fort Myers Police Department.
