Brazilian Army advances defense tech with missile and radar tests

The Brazilian Army and Avibras Aeroco have reached a significant milestone in the certification of the Tactical Cruise Missile (MTC). During a successful firing test at the Army Evaluation Center in Rio de Janeiro, the missile met all established objectives for this phase. The MTC is part of the intelligent munitions portfolio for the ASTROS Artillery System and is capable of striking targets at distances of up to 300 kilometers.

In a separate technological advancement, the Army Technological Center (CTEx) successfully tested the SENTIR M20 Ground Surveillance Radar, manufactured by Embraer. The tests confirmed the portable radar's ability to identify small drones at distances of up to 4 kilometers. This development is part of a broader Brazilian Armed Forces initiative to increase national autonomy in drone detection and counter-drone combat technologies.

Additionally, the 1st Electronic Warfare Battalion conducted Operation Sagitta Primus in Goiás, integrating radar systems, anti-drone defenses, and satellite communications. The battalion also developed a specialized application to consolidate detection, identification, and tracking data to streamline decision-making processes.
