Brazilian Army rescues indigenous child after snake bite in Amazonas

The Brazilian Army conducted a rescue operation to save an 11-year-old child from the Deni indigenous ethnic group after they were bitten by a surucucu snake in a remote community in the Amazonas region.

Due to the difficult terrain and limited land access, the Solimões Border Command/8th Jungle Infantry Battalion and the 4th Army Aviation Battalion utilized a Jaguar aircraft to reach the isolated area. Military personnel administered antivenom on-site to neutralize the highly venomous snake's toxins before transporting the child by air to the Hospital of Itamarati for continued medical care.

The surucucu is recognized as one of the most venomous snake species in South America, making rapid medical intervention critical for survival.
