MC Guimê announces transition from funk to gospel music

Brazilian singer MC Guimê has announced his intention to transition from funk music to the gospel genre. After a 17-year career in funk, the artist shared that he feels a spiritual calling to dedicate his music to God.

The announcement follows a social media video in which Guimê performed the song ‘Nada Mais’ by the band Fhop Music. He described the decision as being ‘guided by the Holy Spirit’ and expressed a desire to use his testimony to touch lives.

Guimê noted that this transition will be gradual and emphasized his gratitude for the funk movement, stating that the genre helped him achieve his dreams and transform his life. He defended the genre against social judgment, highlighting its role in providing opportunities for youth in peripheral areas.
