Brazilian artists honored at Critics Choice gala in Los Angeles

Three Brazilian artists were honored at the Critics Choice Association’s Celebración of Cinema and Television gala in Los Angeles. The event recognized the year's top Latino actors, directors, and producers.

Producer Rodrigo Teixeira received an award for his work on the upcoming film ‘Paper Tiger’, starring Scarlett Johansson, Adam Driver, and Miles Teller. Teixeira, who also produced ‘Ainda Estou Aqui’, noted the challenges of a Brazilian producer working on a traditional American film.

Brazilian-Canadian actress Laysla de Oliveira was named Breakthrough Actress for her role in the Paramount series ‘Lioness’. Additionally, Brazilian-American director Beth de Araújo won the Breakthrough Director award for her film ‘Josephine’, which features Channing Tatum and Gemma Chan.
