Brazilian arts productions explore themes of aging and memory

Various cultural productions in Brazil are exploring themes of aging, memory, and intergenerational connections through different artistic mediums.

In São Paulo, Cia Tu Mateixa will premiere the puppet show “Das Duas, Uma” at Galpão dos Bonecos during the Festival Solos. The production uses string puppets to tell the story of Ermelinda, a former circus artist, as she revisits memories of her late twin sister. The performance aims to reflect on the passage of time and the continuity of affection.

In Rio de Janeiro, the contemporary dance piece “Desenho do Tempo” is touring the state. Choreographed by Esther Weitzman and performed by Renata Leoni and Marcos Mattos, the show explores the friendship between two dancers with a 20-year age gap. The production will be presented at Sesc Teresópolis on October 30, following performances in other cities such as Petrópolis and Nova Iguaçu.
