Brazilian athletes achieve regional and international sporting milestones
In Brazil, two young athletes have achieved significant recognition in their respective sports. Denis Rebouças, a professor from the Formando Campeões project in Amazonas, won the Pan-American Jiu-Jitsu championship held in São Paulo. Rebouças, who works through the state's Sport and Leisure Secretariat (Sedel), uses jiu-jitsu as a tool for social inclusion and discipline for children and adolescents.
In Santa Catarina, 13-year-old para-athlete Henzo Gabriel Amaral Pazini has been called up to represent Brazil at the South American School Games in Guayaquil, Ecuador. A student from Blumenau competing in the T20 adaptive athletics category, Pazini earned his spot following his performance in the Brazilian School Games (JEBs) in Brasília. He will compete in shot put and the 80-meter dash.
