Brazilian athletes and students achieve regional sports success
In Brazil, individual and school-level sports achievements are being highlighted. Nayara Karoline Amarante de Amorim, a municipal education employee and 3rd Dan black belt in Traditional Karatê-Dô, recently secured a gold and a silver medal at the 37th Brazilian Traditional Karatê-Dô Championship in Curitiba. A member of both Mato Grosso and Brazilian national teams, she holds 22 Brazilian championship titles and a 2024 world title from Portugal.
Additionally, Higino da Silveira State College demonstrated significant participation in the Rio de Janeiro School Games (JERJ). Representing the school in eight different modalities, 87 students competed in the Under-17 categories. Notable performances included the men's Under-17 basketball team, which won the regional stage and finished as state runners-up, and the women's Under-17 badminton team, which secured third place in the state competition.
