Brazilian athletes secure multiple gold medals in regional competitions
Brazilian athletes achieved significant success in recent regional sporting competitions. At the Brazilian University Games (JUBs) in Goiânia, the Associação Sorriso de Atletismo (ASA Sorriso) secured eight medals, including six golds, one silver, and one bronze.
Key performers for ASA Sorriso included Isabelle Almeida, who won gold in the 800m, 1,500m, and 3,000m steeplechase, and Matheus Pereira, who took gold in both the 100m and 200m sprints. Eduardo Furtado also earned a gold in the T47 200m and a silver in the 100m.
In San Salvador, the Brazilian judo team dominated the Pan-American Open, finishing at the top of the medal standings. The team earned a total of 15 medals across 14 categories, consisting of eight golds, three silvers, and four bronzes. Notable performances included Sarah Mendes, who secured a gold through a golden score victory, and Yasmin Lima, who earned gold after applying two ippons during her matches.
