Brazilian athletes Thaisa and Daiane dos Santos champion education after retirement

Former Flamengo women's football midfielder Thaisa retired after a ceremony that highlighted her 100 matches, three titles and her role in the club’s history. The club and fans praised her leadership and legacy as she hung up her boots.

At the Summit Mulheres nas Profissões, former gymnast Daiane dos Santos and former swimmer Patrícia Medrado discussed the need for athletes to pursue education. Daiane, who founded the social project “Brasileirinhos” serving over 1,500 children in São Paulo’s Paraisópolis and Aricanduva, emphasized sport as a tool for inclusion and personal development. Both athletes urged young people to combine sport with study to build a better future.
