Brazilian audit court leaders spotlight careers and push preventive oversight

President of Brazil's Federal Court of Accounts (TCU), Vital do Rêgo, launched his memoir "Uma escolha de vida: trajetória no Tribunal de Contas da União". The book marks a decade of his service on the TCU, recounts his move from the Senate, and stresses the need for a more pedagogical court that guides public managers and simplifies communication with society.

Meanwhile, Manoel de Andrade, president of the Court of Accounts of the Federal District (TCDF), marked 26 years on the bench. He reiterated his vision of a preventive, dialogue‑driven audit body—coined a “Tribunal da Pedagogia”—aimed at advising officials, avoiding waste, and keeping the institution transparent and close to citizens.
