Brazilian audit courts discuss oversight of infrastructure concessions

Audit courts in Brazil are convening to discuss the oversight of infrastructure concessions and public-private partnerships (PPPs). The 8th Technical Meeting for the Oversight of Concessions and PPPs, held in Brasília, aims to ensure that contract execution translates into high-quality services for the population.

The event brings together ministers, auditors, and specialists to address complex issues such as conflict resolution, risk pricing, contract extensions, and the use of independent verifiers. Nelson Pelegrino, President of the TCM-BA, emphasized the difficulty of structuring these long-term contracts, which must account for investment, operating costs, and risk distribution over several decades.
