Brazilian author Raphael Montes talks about true‑crime aversion and new novel Dias Perfeitos
Brazilian writer Raphael Montes, known for horror and suspense, released his latest novel *Dias Perfeitos* through Companhia das Letras. The psychological thriller follows a medical student who becomes obsessed with a woman named Clarice, leading to kidnapping and violence. The book, published in 2025, includes a collector's edition and inspired a series debut on Globoplay.
In a separate interview, Montes said he is “afraid” of true‑crime material despite frequently writing about it. He explained that while he must research real cases for adaptations, he does not enjoy real‑world violence. The Rio‑born author, who also holds a law degree, traced his passion for storytelling to reading Agatha Christie as a child.
