Brazilian authorities arrest men for violating protective orders
Authorities in Brazil have conducted arrests following violations of judicial protective orders against domestic violence.
In Barbacena, the Municipal Civil Guard (GCM) recorded the first arrest via the ‘Fala Barbacena’ app’s ‘Panic Button’ (SOS) feature. The tool, designed to protect women and allow citizens to report violence, alerted the GCM after a man, who was under a judicial restraining order, was spotted near a victim. The GCM’s Women’s Patrol responded immediately to confirm the violation and effect the arrest.
In Ladário, the Military Police’s ‘Mulher Segura’ (PROMUSE) program responded to a report of a man violating an urgent protective measure by repeatedly contacting his former partner via calls and messages. Upon locating the individual at a commercial establishment, police reported that the man became agitated and resisted orders, advancing toward officers. Police used non-lethal ammunition to contain the individual before taking him into custody.
