Brazilian authorities rescue abused dogs in São Paulo and Espírito Santo

In Votorantim, São Paulo, a team from the local water utility responded to a community call and rescued four puppies that had become trapped in a deactivated sewer pit. After removal, the animals were taken to a public adoption fair where they were each adopted by new families.

In Vila Velha, Espírito Santo, the state Civil Police and the municipal animal‑welfare department conducted an operation that freed two chained dogs suffering severe injuries and malnutrition. The dogs were transferred to a municipal shelter for veterinary care while investigators continue to search for the owner, who fled the scene before the raid.
