Brazilian authorities target organized drug trafficking networks

Law enforcement agencies in Brazil have launched operations to dismantle organized drug trafficking networks in different regions.

In the Caparaó region of Espírito Santo, the Public Ministry (MPES) has indicted nine suspects for participating in a structured network involved in the supply, acquisition, distribution, and sale of narcotics. The investigation, which began in May 2025 following the seizure of mobile devices, revealed a sophisticated operation with a clear division of tasks and structured financial movements across municipalities including Ibitirama, Iúna, Guaçuí, Irupi, and Divino de São Lourenço.

In the Federal District, the Civil Police launched ‘Operation Consortium’ to investigate a trafficking consortium that moved approximately R$ 1.3 million in two months. Investigators found that criminals pooled funds to purchase large quantities of drugs from other states, using farms in Samambaia and Sol Nascente as temporary storage sites before distribution. The operation also uncovered a suspected money laundering scheme involving an auto parts store, which processed funds deemed incompatible with its physical structure. Police executed 14 search and seizure warrants in Samambaia, Sol Nascente, and Taguatinga.
