Brazilian authors Aline Bei and Raquel Giri highlight literature and personal healing

Writer Aline Bei, a leading voice in contemporary Brazilian literature, will speak at a free event organized by the Fundação Torino on 27 August at 19:30. The conversation will explore her creative process, the role of fiction as a space for listening and imagination, and the emotional layers of her work. Bei said, “O que me tornou leitora não foi um livro, mas a percepção, já na infância, da minha solidão particular, eminente e intransponível, a mesma que me tornou escritora também.”

In a separate cultural contribution, author Raquel Giri released the book *Sementes do Silêncio* (Seeds of Silence), a collection of prose‑poetry born from her experiences of maternal abandonment, a near‑death event during childbirth, and subsequent therapy. The work frames personal trauma as a source of resilience, urging readers to use writing as a therapeutic tool. Giri writes, “Não foi a morte que levou minha mãe. Foi a escolha. E isso doeu mais.” The book aims to break cycles of pain and promote self‑care through narrative.
