Brazilian authors launch new novels exploring urban life

Two Brazilian authors are launching or re-releasing novels that explore complex human conditions and urban environments.

Pedro Moacyr is releasing the novel ‘Vidas Rasgadas’ through Ardotempo Edições. The work examines the soul of an imaginary city, addressing social inequalities, human contradictions, and the friction between idealized worlds and reality. The launch event is scheduled for September 12 at Livraria Santos – Casa Prado in Porto Alegre.

Maurílio de Sousa Jr is releasing a second edition of his novel ‘Na Rua’ during the São Paulo International Book Biennial on September 11. Set in the streets of São Paulo, including areas like Rua Augusta and Sé, the story follows Alcebíades, a man living on the streets who navigates the boundaries between addiction and personal freedom. The narrative explores themes of alcoholism and the search for autonomy within urban marginality.
